Kaltenhouse"I wrote the script for Kaltenhouse based on my father's memoirs detailing the end of World War II from the perspective of the Rainbow Division's 'G' Company. The book is currently archived at the National Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. What struck me about his account was its raw humanity. Far from gung ho heroics -- and there was certainly some of that -- what became apparent to me is that war is a very nasty business. My father wanted no more than to get home to his new wife, and get on with his life. That said, the bottom line is that he and his Rainbow Division buddies fought a historic battle to repulse the final offensive of the Germans. For that fact we should all be grateful."
