Tathagata tells the story of the global evolution of Buddhism. Filmmakers Diego Prieto and Camila Arias travel throughout Asia to trace the historical roots of Buddhism and the evolution of Buddhist philosophy as it travels from India to Tibet, China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand and Japan--eventually reaching the entire world.
Along they way they talk with people from all walks of life, including lay people as well as from Buddhist scholars and accomplished Masters. The director Diego Prieto narrates the story as he weaves a fascinating tale of courage, curiosity, and enlightenment. The result is a blend of history, travelogue, and personal evolution that provides a clear and inspirational overview of a philosophy that continues to impact people in new and profound ways.
